With a month to go until release, The Force Awakens has already broken the all-time record for ticket pre-sales. It didn’t just break it, it obliterated the record like it was Alderaan.
According to the Wall Street Journal, Star Wars: The Force Awakens has already sold more than $50 million in pre-sale tickets. That’s more money than some movies make in their opening weekend even when they open at #1, and there are still four more Thursdays until The Force Awakens is in theaters.
This news bodes well for the movie topping Jurassic World’s opening weekend record, and history could reverse itself with a Star Wars movie toppling Titanic just like that movie did to the franchise back in 1997.
