Last week when marketing material leaked and confirmed a Summer 2015 release date for Episode VII, the flyer also mentioned a series of Darth Vader television specials. Obviously this is something that Star Wars fans would be excited about, but fans are becoming way too worked up over something they shouldn’t, which will only result in massive disappointment and cursing of Lucasfilm when the truth comes out.
It’s very possible these “specials” are actually short commercials for Star Wars Rebels.
Back in September we learned how Rebels would receive “A level” Disney marketing, and that would include:
Four short-form interstitials will release in Summer 2014, introducing viewers to the characters of Star Wars Rebels.
Those interstitials could star Darth Vader. He could introduce the Rebels in the form of a “wanted poster” style Imperial propaganda broadcast. The above image is a mock-up of what these could look like.
With the knowledge of the Vader specials, meant to arrive next Summer at the same time these “interstitials” are, it doesn’t take much deduction to figure out that they may be the same thing. Fans hoping for actual TV specials where Darth Vader slaughters Jedi in a gory Game of Thrones style had better start calming down…
