There’s a famous gag in an older South Park episode where everything they did was done before in The Simpsons. The longest running animated series (and soon scripted series) in history has done a lot of stuff since it premiered nearly thirty years ago, and yes the series did predict a Donald Trump Presidency. Only the show did it in a different way than the internet says.

In 2000 The Simpsons aired an episode with a flash-forward to the future, where Lisa inherits the White House from Donald Trump. This is the 2000 Trump prediction most people are thinking of:

A false internet meme is claiming that The Simpsons predicted that Trump would make his entrance via an escalator. It claims that scene is from 2000 and people are actually making YouTube comparisons based around that falsehood:

The actual escalator scene is really from Season 25 of The Simpsons in July of 2015, after Trump made the same entrance in real life:

So yes, it is true that sixteen years ago The Simpsons predicted that Donald Trump would be President. It didn’t predict the escalator part. That was a gag done for the 25th season of the show meant to parody the real event.
