First Look at Legends of Tomorrow\’s \”Vixen\”

|

Earlier today, series developer and show-runner Marc Guggenheim tweeted out a first look at the new member of the time traveling team in DC’s Legends of Tomorrow. For those DC fans not familiar with the show, Legends is the CW’s spin off of both Arrow and The Flash, bringing together a rag tag team of superheroes and villains alike.

Led by Rip Hunter, a Timemaster from the future, heroes like The Atom (Ray Palmer), White Canary (Sara Lance), Firestorm (Martin Stein/Jefferson Jackson) and star crossed lovers Hawkman (Carter Hall) and Hawkgirl (Kendra Saunders) must join with super villains Captain Cold (Leonard Snart) and Heat Wave (Mick Rory) to stop the immortal and all powerful Vandal Savage.

Savage, who is eternally linked to both Hawkman and Hawkgirl, has brought destruction to the world in the not so distant future and Rip Hunter brings together this unlikely team to traverse through time and stop him.

For Season 2 it seems that the team will be gaining a new hero, Vixen:

Played by Megalyn Echikunwoke, Mari McCabe was born in Africa, but left orphaned when greed and corruption brought violence to her village and killed her parents. Taken in by foster parents Patty and Chuck, Mari grew up as a normal, albeit restless and rebellious child in Motor City. The only thing left to her by her family was a mysterious necklace referred to as a Tantu Totem that she received at a young age.

This totem grants her the ability to access and utilize the natural abilities of any animal on the planet. This includes the strength of a gorilla or the speed of a cheetah. Mari decides to use these abilities to become Vixen and fight back against the evils of the world, including those that took her family away from her.

Vixen made her first appearance in 2015 with a 6 episode web series on CW Seed the network’s online streaming platform. This introduction brought in characters from both Arrow and The Flash to firmly cement her acceptance into the DC TV universe, or as it is referred to, the Arrowverse. She made the crossover to live action last year during Arrow’s third season and it is exciting to see that she will now feature as a main character on Legends. Season 2 of the web series is set to release later this fall and Legends will premiere on Thursday October 13th.
