San Diego Comic Con opens today, but Marvel may have more than just movies to announce at their big Studios panel on Saturday night.

WDW News Today believes that Marvel will use the panel to officially announce the two new Guardians of the Galaxy rides, as construction on both will begin in the fall and the next opportunity to announce them at a convention isn’t until D23 next July. The new rides will be the Guardians of the Galaxy Tower of Terror in California and a new ride to replace the Universe of Energy at Walt Disney World’s Epcot.

We’ve previously let you know how the Tower of Terror in California will be closing this September to begin construction on the new version of the ride. It’s expected to re-open next May, just in time for Guardians of the Galaxy v2 to open in theaters.

Disney has also scheduled a special D23 fan event for Tower of Terror to give die-hard fans of the ride one last time for a special farewell to it.
