One of the popular trailer concepts to make the movie look more 3D is now being used for the entire movie of Ghostbusters on IMAX 3D.
Disney has been using the “frame break” technique for a while, most people probably remember it with Jungle Book. But Ghostbusters appears to be the first movie to actually use it in the movie.
Today IMAX revealed the following image to illustrate what Ghostbusters will look like on IMAX 3D with the frame break being used. This means the IMAX version of the movie won’t be filling the full IMAX screen but instead will feature black bars in order to allow them to do the frame break effect:
