Tonight during Sony’s E3 2016 press conference, they revealed the first look at the stunning new Spider-Man game that’s coming exclusively to the PlayStation 4.
Developed by Insomniac and published by Sony, this is a fully-original take on Spider-Man. It’s not based on Spider-Man: Homecoming, as it appears that Activision still holds the rights to movie adaptations. By doing a completely original Spider-Man game not based on a movie, Sony was able to secure the game exclusively to the PlayStation 4 via a special arrangement with Marvel. That means you will not be seeing this Spider-Man game coming out on the Xbox One or the PC like the previous Activision games did.
The trailer is short, but it’s extremely impressive. It shows Spidey swinging around New York while fighting enemies not just on rooftops, but fast-moving vehicles in the street. It features a stunning level of detail and lots of destruction effects, and a sense of speed we’ve not yet seen in a Spider-Man game before. No date is given yet for when Spider-Man will hit the PS4, but here’s the trailer:
