It’s not been a good week for Star Wars-related cancellations. First Disney Infinity died, and now one of the better Star Wars comics is coming to an end.
IGN reports that the on-going Darth Vader series by Kieron Gillen and artist Salvador Larroca will no longer be on-going as of issue #25. August’s issue will end the run of the series with a story line that has Vader trying to regain his standing with Emperor Palpatine following the events of the past three story arcs in the series.
Darth Vader was one of the first of the new canon Star Wars comics from Marvel. It’s set between ANH and ESB and runs along side the main “Star Wars” title. The two have crossed paths before with a “Vader Down” crossover.
With the end of Darth Vader, Star Wars and Poe Dameron remain the two on-going Star Wars comics Marvel is publishing. It’d be really interesting if they pushed the Star Wars comic setting to the pre-TFA timeline Poe Dameron is set in so those two books could interact.
