Today comes the first real confirmation that the Nintendo NX will launch in 2016, as the Wii U is ending.
A report out of Nikkei News in Japan states that Nintendo will cease production on Wii U hardware at the end of the year, which means Nintendo is trying to exhaust inventory of the console.
For a long time it’s been rumored that Nintendo will announce the new Nintendo NX console at E3 in June, and then release it later in the year. Foxconn in China, who will manufacture the system, has made comments about the project which points to the hardware going into mass production this summer (right after E3).
This all means that we’ll be seeing a new Nintendo console on store shelves by the end of 2016, and that’s something to get excited about.
