By far one of the most controversial parts of Man of Steel was when Superman killed Zod. People on the internet used their headcanon to say that “their” Superman doesn’t kill, while the canon of the comic books completely disagreed with how they saw Supes. Forbes recently did a great article detailing this.

Superman never had a “no killing” vow, but Batman did. And because of that there’s going to be one part of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice that will cause these comic book pacifists to clutch their pearls and faint.

Just like Burton’s Batman, Affleck’s Batman kills.

He’s not really dropping thugs of buildings to their death (instead Batman brands them with a bat symbol, which is a death mark in prison), but there’s a scene where he blows away a whole bunch of people via collateral explosions.

This scene is in the trailer, and it made some people think that Batman was killing. And it turns out he was.

Because of this that vocal minority of people on the internet who are desperate to bash Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice have one massive bit of ammo to use. Just like we heard them crying about Man of Steel for the last three years, we’ll hear them crying about this. Thankfully we get Suicide Squad in August, and Wonder Woman next June, but Internet haters will probably find something to complain about in those as well.
