If having Hannibal’s Bryan Fuller as show runner wasn’t enough of a reason to get excited for the new Star Trek series, now Nicholas Meyer has joined the show.
THR reported today that Meyer will be both a writer on the series as well as a consulting producer. For younger Star Trek fans who may not know of his impact on the series, he’s the guy who saved the movie series after the disappointing box office of 1979’s The Motion Picture.
Meyer was responsible for writing and directing The Wrath of Khan and The Undiscovered Country, as well as writing The Voyage Home. Those are the absolute best of the Original Series movies, so this is reason to get excited.
We still don’t know much about the new series or where it’s set, but having a stable of absolute true Star Trek fans that the fandom trusts making the series is definitely enough reason to pay the $6 a month for CBS All Access…
