Tarantino Blasts Disney Over The Force Awakens\’ Theater Placement

the-force-awakens-japanese-trailerOne of the biggest shocks about the release of The Force Awakens this week isn’t that it’ll be on IMAX for an entire month, but how many theaters are playing it. Take for example Hollywood. The movie is playing at the famous Chinese, Disney’s El Capitan across the street, and the ArcLight Dome down the block.

It’s normally unheard of for a movie to play at both the Chinese and the Dome, and Star Wars fans will remember when Revenge of the Sith played at the Dome instead of the Chinese in 2005…causing the line to have to move on opening day.

Now Tarantino blasted Disney on the Stern show this morning for pushing Hateful Eight out of the Dome:

“It was real bad news and it fucking pissed me off,” Tarantino told Stern. “They are going out of their way to fuck me.”

“It’s vindictive, it’s mean, and it’s extortion,” Tarantino added. The Oscar-winning fimmaker further added that his beef isn’t with Force Awakens director J.J. Abrams, but with the top suits at Disney.

The Arclight Dome is one of the few theaters around that can still show Hateful Eight in its full 70mm glory (and it even has the Cinerama logo on the movie). So this is kind of bad news if you were hoping to see the movie how it was intended in LA.
