Lucasfilm has found a good way to keep cast members quiet about what happens in the new Star Wars movie. According to Mark Hamill, they get a nice payout if they don’t spoil The Force Awakens.
According to GamesRadar, Hamill won’t get paid if he leaks the big Episode VII secret:
“I have something coming out where there’s an amount of money that if it leaks, because of me, I don’t get that payment” Hamill said. “I’m good about keeping secrets, I’m proud of the fact that I knew a year and a half before anybody else that he was actually dad Vader.” The Star Wars actor added: “Now it’s happening all over again. I’m not even authorised to tell you I’m in Episode VII, it’s all secret.”
Fans who are well versed with spoilers know exactly what he’s talking about. It’s not because Luke is Kylo Ren or evil, but rather for a reason that may actually cause some fans to boycott the movie if they find out about it before hand. When the spoiler about it leaked earlier this year, the source of the spoiler actually received death threats from crazy Luke fans who didn’t want to believe it.
