Frank Marshall Says They Won\’t Recast Indiana Jones

Re-Cast Indiana Jones

For the last few months the internet has been frothing at the idea of who they will recast as Indiana Jones in the upcoming fifth movie of the franchise. Everyone remembers the rumor from back in January that said Disney wanted Chris Pratt as the new Indy, but now it looks like no one will take on the mantle of “Indiana Jones” in the future.

Den of Geek got their hands on the new issue of Total Film where producer Frank Marshall addresses the rumors that they’ll recast Indiana Jones in the next movie:

“There are a lot of rumors,” Marshall admitted. “We haven’t even sat down to talk about Indy yet… at some point we’ll sit down. But there’s a bunch of people who could probably take the baton.”

That doesn’t mean that they’ll be recasting Indy himself:

“not doing the Bond thing where we’re going to call somebody else Indiana Jones… we have to figure this out.”

So likely some younger character will “take the baton”, but he won’t inherit the Indiana Jones name. Just a couple of weeks ago Spielberg alluded that he’d be doing Indy 5 with Harrison Ford. So even if it’s early in the process, it sounds like the fifth Indy movie may possibly introduce a new character who will go on the continue the adventures, although under a different name.
