Disney and Marvel Return to the Prequel Era!

Prequel haters wishing that Disney would ignore that era of Star Wars had better strap themselves in for disappointment, as Marvel just announced a new canon comic about Anakin and Obi-Wan.

At New York Comic Con, Marvel revealed Obi-Wan & Anakin a comic set during the Prequel era telling tales of Anakin’s training under Obi-Wan prior to the Clone Wars. This is the official synopsis:

“Before their military heroism in the Clone Wars, before their tragic battle on Mustafar, and many decades before their final confrontation on the Death Star… they were Master Obi-Wan Kenobi and his Padawan learner, Anakin Skywalker. It’s been a few years since Obi-Wan pledged to train the young “chosen one,” but even as they have grown closer through training, it has been a difficult road. Now, called to a remote planet for assistance, Master and Padawan may be pushed to the breaking point. Writer Charles Soule (Lando, She-Hulk, Daredevil) and artist Marco Checchetto (Star Wars: Shattered Empire, Avengers World, Punisher) bring us a tale of the Jedi at the height of their power…”

In the past they have said they didn’t have immediate plans to revisit the Prequel era, but fan demand obviously changed their minds. Charles Soule is one of Marvel’s best writers, and Checchetto’s work on Shattered Empire has been excellent. So this should be a great Marvel Star Wars comic to pick up when it releases next year.
