One of the big surprises from today’s Lucasfilm panel at San Diego Comic Con may have leaked as a new rumor says Colin Trevorrow will be directing 2019’s Star Wars Episode IX.
The rumor comes from Heroic Hollywood who says Lucasfilm will bring Trevorrow on stage this evening to announce him as the director of the third installment of the Star Wars Sequel Trilogy. This would be the movie he is directing after Book of Henry, which means his Amblin film Intelligent Life may be on hold.
For a while it was rumored that JJ Abrams would be directing Episode IX, but the insane and unpredicted box office success of Jurassic World may have had Lucasfilm seriously court its director. If true this is a very good sign for Episode IX, and it could be good for fans as we’ll never have to deal with the Mystery Box and Star Wars ever again.
