IDW Announces a Four-Part Back to the Future Comic Series

IDW Back to the Future

One of the first big announcements out of San Diego Comic Con this year is a new four-part Back to the Future comic series from IDW.

The publisher known for Star Trek, TMNT, Doctor Who, Transformers, GI Joe, and many others is teaming up with Back to the Future co-creator Bob Gale to tell unknown tales from the trilogy mythos:

“We’ve subtitled this ‘Untold Tales and Alternate Timelines’ because for years, fans have asked questions about things that happened before the events of the trilogy, in between the events of the trilogy, or in our alternate realities,” said Gale. “In this series, we’ll finally answer some of those questions, with our focus squarely on the characters everyone loves.”

Each issue appears to be made up of two stories with writers John Barber (Transformers) and Erik Burnham (Ghostbusters) doing the scripting and artists Brent Schoonover (Batman ’66) and Dan Schoening (Ghostbusters) handling the pencils. Issue #1 will have a story set in 1982 that shows how Doc and Marty first met, and a story set in 1943 where Doc Brown becomes involved in the Manhattan Project.

The four-issue series begins in October.
