Although speculated about for a while now, we no know when all of the Force Awakens merchandise will arrive on store shelves.
StarWars.com confirmed that the toys and other merchandise will arrive on “Force Friday”, September 4th:
StarWars.com is thrilled to announce that Star Wars: The Force Awakens products will land in our galaxy on September 4, 2015, at 12:01 a.m. — “Force Friday†— with stores around the world opening their doors at midnight for a special celebration of all things Star Wars. It will be a day long remembered.
Those avoiding spoilers will want to mark that date on the calendar as when to dig a hole or find a bunker, as you probably won’t be able to go into most stores without seeing some kind of Force Awakens merchandise on the shelf. The September 4th date has been floating around for a while as that is also the date many of the books, such as the post-ROTJ canon novel Aftermath release.
As for the toys there has been a tentative date of September for a while. The rumor going around is that his is an aftermath for Abrams having Disney move the release date to December from May 22nd. When the date was set as May 22nd many licensees, such as Hasbro, leased warehouse space to hold their merchandise. These warehouse leases expire in the fall, so they have to have the product in stores long before the movie is released. That’s why September 4th is the date for all of the merchandise as opposed to a date in late October or November.
