The Live Action Star Wars Series is Moving Forward Again!


Jedi Knight IIWhile most of the internet is debating whether or not JJ Abrams should return for Episode IX today, there’s another little piece of news that’s slipping through the cracks.

In their article about JJ and Episode IX, MakingStarWars posted an update from the same source saying:

“Oh yeah, my source also mentioned that a television series based in the Star Wars universe like Marvel’s Agents of Shield is ramping up a bit. I assume they don’t mean the premise is like Agents of Shield.”

Back in 2013, ABC said they would like to do a series with Lucasfilm when speaking to EW:

“We’d love to do something with Lucasfilm, we’re not sure what yet,” Lee exclusively told EW. “We haven’t even sat down with them. We’re going to look at [the live-action series], we’re going to look at all of them, and see what’s right. We weren’t able to discuss this with them until [the acquisition] closed and it just closed. It’s definitely going to be part of the conversation.”

Right now it’s not known if this will be Underworld, or something more suitable for ABC. At one time Underworld was discussed as being a darker, possibly HBO-style, series. With the success of both Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and Agent Carter, not to mention the upcoming Marvel Netflix series, it’s not shocking that we’d see a Star Wars live action series…
