Warner CEO Says DC is More Realistic Than Marvel. What?

|

batmanvsuperman-trinityWhile Marvel fans have been watching the awesome Avengers: Age of Ultron trailer on a loop, DC fans have been scouring the internet for pictures of Jared Leto’s haircut. That’s because Warner doesn’t want fans to see anything of Batman V Superman: Dawn of Justice just yet.

But that doesn’t stop them from making dumb statements such as this one their CEO told Variety:

“The worlds of DC are very different,” he said. “They’re steeped in realism, and they’re a little bit edgier than Marvel’s movies.”

Steeped in realism? Where their most famous character is an invincible alien?

Actually it’s always been the opposite. Marvel has always been set in a “real” world by putting their characters in real locations such as New York City, San Francisco, etc. Only the non-US heroes (like Black Panther) have fictional homes. DC on the other hand uses made up cities (Metropolis, Gotham, Central City, Star City, Coast City, etc.) for their heroes.

The DC Universe has always been more mythical than Marvel. Does Warner really understand the universe they’re trying to bring to the big screen?
