Theory: Have We Already Begun to See Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Connections to Age of Ultron?

baron-von-struckerWARNING: Mild spoilers for the Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. mid-season premiere “Aftershocks” are below.

On last night’s mid-season premiere of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. we had a name drop of Baron von Strucker, who Hydra believes has gone missing. We also had a big clue as to the secret Bobby and Mack are sharing, and they could be connected…

The duo are looking for the toolbox that Nick Fury left with Coulson when he made him director of S.H.I.E.L.D.. This toolbox apparently contains blueprints that they are looking for, and at the end of the episode Bobby said she’d make contact soon.

Here’s a theory: Bobby and Mack are working with Nick Fury in secret, and Nick Fury realized these blueprints in his toolbox is likely the mountain base where Baron von Strucker is hiding out.
We’ve seen this mountain base already in the Age of Ultron trailers, so it’s possible that Bobby and Mack locate what Fury needs and that’s how the Agents tie into the lead-up to Age of Ultron. They provide some behind the scenes support to Fury, which he then passes on to the Avengers when they go to assault Strucker’s base early in the movie.

The show will also probably tie into the movie in a bigger way, with a strongly rumored Hawkeye cameo, but right now this seems to fit with that happened on the most recent episode.
