The Supergirl TV Series Has Found its Cat Grant

The upcoming Supergirl series on CBS now has its Perry White equivalent.

Ally McBeal herself Calista Flockhart has been cast as Cat Grant in the series according to Deadline, who gave this synopsis:

Based on the characters from DC Comics, Supergirl, from Warner Bros. TV, studio-based Berlanti Prods. and writers/executive producers Berlanti and Ali Adler, centers on Kara Zor-El (Benoist). Since arriving on Earth, the Krypton-born Kara has been hiding the powers she shares with her famous cousin, Superman. But now at age 24, she decides to embrace her superhuman abilities and be the hero she was always meant to be. Kara works as as assistant to Cat Grant (Flockhart), a self-made media magnate and founder of CatCo who started her career as a reporter and has built her company into a global powerhouse.

Cat Grant has been a pretty big character in the Superman family of comics for years, most recently taking on a bigger role in the New 52 when Clark left the Daily Planet to work with her.
