Why JJ Abrams is Grateful For Those Who Read Spoilers

jj-kimmelBy the time Star Wars Celebration rolls around, if you want to know just about everything that happens in Star Wars: The Force Awakens you will probably be able to read a good summary. While there has been some crazy (and completely bogus) rumors, that time is coming to an end and we are starting to see some very accurate stuff come out.

You’d think JJ Abrams would be furious over this, with his love of the Mystery Box and the lengths they went to hiding Khan in Star Trek. But he isn’t. Actually he told the BBC he is grateful for those who read spoilers:

“There are a ton of rumours – some true, some false. But I’m grateful for everyone who would want to read a spoiler because it means that they care and want to see the movie.

“I know what it feels like, as an enormous Star Wars fan myself.”

I guess it was just about time that he accepted that the Mystery Box would be blown wide open prior to the first real trailer. If Bad Robot had allowed Lucasfilm to release more stuff to the fans, there probably wouldn’t be such a hunger for spoilers. Compared to what we got for the Prequels, we haven’t really seen anything about The Force Awakens yet.
