Towards the end of December, a leaked photo showing who we now know as Kylo Ren from The Force Awakens hit the internet. The image appeared on a reputable Star Wars fansite, who said they found it on an Imageshack account belonging to a “Darth_Simi”. Now Lucasfilm has filed a subpoena in federal court to force Imageshack to reveal the identity (likely the IP address) of this Darth_Simi so they can go after him for violating JJ Abrams’ precious Mystery Box.
SAN FRANCISCO (CN) – Lucasfilm is searching for whoever leaked a photo of the new “Star Wars†movie on an image-sharing network.
The film company filed a subpoena request in federal court today against ImageShack, under the Digital Millennium Copyright Act.
Lucasfilm seeks information that will identify user “Darth_Simi,†who allegedly posted at least one unauthorized image to the ImageShack site on Oct. 29, 2014.
Lots of people, on places such as the Jedi Council Forums and StarWars7News Cantina, always complains that sites such as MakingStarWars only describes concepts they see as opposed to posting them for the whole world. This is why people don’t post leaked stuff to the internet.
