Dark Horse\’s Star Wars Comics Arrive on ComiXology Thanks to Marvel

dark-horse-the-star-warsFor about twenty years Dark Horse published the Star Wars comics before losing the license to do so because of the Disney purchase. As Disney owns one of the biggest names in comics, it only made sense to allow them to handle Star Wars comics going forward. We heard earlier this week that Marvel had planned to begin republishing some of the Dark Horse books digitally, and that has happened today.

For those not into digital comics, the primary storefront people use is the Amazon-owned ComiXology. Marvel, DC, Image, and most indies publish their digital comics through them although Dark Horse had always used their own digital store. That means you would have to use a separate app to read any digital Dark Horse comics if you got everything else through ComiXology. As Marvel uses the ComiXology system for their digital comics, it would make sense for them to put Star Wars there, and that’s what has happened today.

ComiXology has posted a Star Wars Debut Page here. Right now there are only trades available, and debut page focuses on: Omnibus: A Long Time Ago… Vol. 1 (Reprinting the Marvel originals), Omnibus: Shadows of the Empire, Omnibus: Knights of the Old Republic Vol. 1, Omnibus: Rogue Squadron Vol. 1, Omnibus: At War With the Empire Vol. 1, Star Wars (2013-2014) Vol. 1, The Star Wars, Darth Vader and the Ghost Prison, The Dark Empire Trilogy, The Thrawn Trilogy, Star Wars – Purge, Han Solo at Star’s End, Blood Ties: Boba Fett is Dead, Star Wars: Legacy Vol. 1, and Tag & Bink Were Here. ComiXology has posted a whole lot more than just that, and you can view the entire Star Wars digital collection here.

They usually do big sales on ComiXology, with greatly reduced prices, so even though these are full price now keep an eye on the site as I wouldn’t be surprised if they put on some kind of Star Wars sale in the future. That will be the time to stock up on digital Dark Horse Star Wars comics.
