Marvel\’s Giving Squirrel Girl Her Own Solo Series

Unbeatable Squirrel GirlRecently it was revealed that Marvel renewed the trademark for Squirrel Girl. At the time it was believed to be for a new TV project or movie, which fans would go nuts over, but now it looks like it’s going to be for her own solo series.

Entertainment Weekly has revealed the cover and two variants for Marvel’s new “Unbeatable Squirrel Girl”:

In Unbeatable Squirrel Girl, writer Ryan North and artist Erica Henderson take on the lighthearted superheroine whose mutant gene gives her an endearing cocktail of squirrel-related superpowers. When the comic book begins, she’s starting college—but in no time at all, Squirrel Girl is defending Earth from threats most cosmic.

As Marvel typically starts building up a character in the comics about eighteen months prior to any TV/Movie project, it’s possible Squirrel Girl could still show up on the small or big screen in a year or two.
