When it comes to rumors about highly anticipated movie trailers being attached to equally highly anticipated movies, it’s always wise to take them with a massive grain of salt.
The latest whopped of a rumor comes from a Russian movie site (right there should be a red flag that it’s bogus) that the Avengers: Age of Ultron teaser trailer will be attached to Christopher Nolan’s Interstellar on November 7th. While it’s very likely that the teaser will be out on November 7th (or before, as the original Avengers teaser came out in October), it’s more likely Disney will use it to promote their own movie, Big Hero 6, as it opens the same day as Interstellar.
The Avengers is a huge product line for Disney Consumer Products targeted right at the Big Hero 6 audience. Go into any store and you can see Avengers boys clothes, bed sheets, birthday party kits, kids first aid kits, toothbrushes, and fruit snacks. The kid market, due to merchandise, is more important to Disney than film snobs wanting to see the next Nolan movie. Just because the “internet” is hyped up over a Christopher Nolan movie and the second Avengers doesn’t mean much to Disney when they want to get the Big Hero 6 audience begging their parents for the latest piece of Avengers merchandise right after they get out of the movie.
As both movies are out the same day (November 7th) it’s likely the trailer will show up on both, and it’ll naturally be online as well, but one movie out of the two has a much better chance to definitely have the trailer on the big screen.
