All of the speculation can now end, Bryan Singer is officially coming back to direct his fourth X-Men movie with “X-Men: Apocalypse”. The movie set for May 27, 2016 will be written by Simon Kinberg from a story by him, Singer, Michael Dougherty and Dan Harris. So many of the X2 people are involved, but the script will be solo-written by Kinberg this time.
The story is set in the 80s with the First Class cast returning along with Wolverine and younger versions of Cyclops, Jean, and Storm. There will also be new characters, which means the Channing Tatum Gambit is a good bet. I’m really interested to see how they shoe-horn the 80s Wolverine in the story. I guess Days of Future Past retconned out all of the previous X-Men movies, not just The Last Stand?
It’ll also be interesting to see if they embrace the brighter costumes of First Class, or if Singer will revert back to the dumb black leather of the first two X-Men movies and the future scenes of Days of Future Past.
