After all the doom and gloom proclaiming that Guardians of the Galaxy would be Marvel’s first bomb, the movie is the exact opposite of that.
At the box office this weekend, Sin City: A Dame to Kill For bombed pretty hard with only $6.48 million and an eighth place finish. Due to all the kiddies already having seen TMNT, that movie came in second allowing Guardians of the Galaxy to retake the #1 spot at the box office with $17.6 million.
In the process Guardians passed up Transformers: Age of Extinction to become the highest grossing film of the summer. By the end of the week it should pass up Captain America: The Winter Soldier to become the highest grossing movie of 2014 overall.
Not too bad for a “bomb”, huh?
