Back in April, Marvel discussed how they believed that Kingpin was a shared-rights character so they could use him in the upcoming Netflix Daredevil series. Much like how Scarlet Witch & Quicksilver are equally X-Men and Avengers, The Kingpin is both a Spider-Man and Daredevil villain. That means both Marvel and Sony could use the character, and now his appearance in the Daredevil series is confirmed.
Marvel has announced that Vincent D’Onofrio has been cast as Wilson Fisk. While they didn’t use the “Kingpin” name in their announcement, comic fans will know that Fisk is also known as The Kingpin.
Despite hopes from comic fans, it’s very doubtful Marvel will be doing any sort of CG enhancements to replicate the giant figure of the Kingpin in what is definitely going to be a lower budget series when compared to the Marvel Studios films. The Kingpin was last played by the late Michael Clarke Duncan in the 2002 Daredevil feature film. If you haven’t seen the R-rate Director’s Cut of that one, you really need to.
