Now that Square is set to begin charging players to access one of the worst MMOs ever made, they’ve set their sights to terrorize console gamers. In an interview with RPG Site, Square’s FFXIV producer reaffirmed their commitment to releasing the disaster on the PS3 and said they were still talking with Microsoft about an Xbox 360 version:
Of course, because the game is developed on the PC, moving it to the Xbox 360 platform wouldn’t be that difficult, but as we said before, the thing we have to get done first is getting that PS3 version done. Once that’s done, we can take the next step from there. We are continuing our talks with Microsoft, but then you think, maybe next year Microsoft might be announcing their next hardware, and so our decision is do we wait for that next hardware? So we’re going to wait and see what’s happening after we delivered what we’ve promised.
MMOs on the Xbox 360 are pretty non-existent; with the exception of FFXI. This is rumored to be due to a Microsoft policy about additional subscription plans with the games, and it’s rumored to have prevented several other MMOs such as Age of Conan and Lord of the Rings Online from making the jump to the system.
