This past Saturday Night, WQXR in New York played several minutes from Alan Silvestri’s Captain America score. Naturally someone captured the audio off the broadcast and uploaded it to the internet for everyone to check out, and it does sound very awesome.
Alan Silvestri should be well known to geeks with his scores to Back to the Future, Who Framed Roger Rabbit?, and Predator being classics. Outside of the late and legendary Jerry Goldsmith, there really aren’t too many composers that could create the right combination of patriotism and bombast that Cap demands in his soundtrack. James Horner could, but from this small sample; it sounds like Silvestri pulled it off spectacularly. I can’t wait to hear this on the big screen later in the month.
