If you’re a Star Wars fan with some extra money, you can help save the Lars Homested set in Tunisia. The original hovel used the the exterior of the homestead set is in really bad shape due to years of exposure in the harsh African desert. So a group of fans are trying to raise the money to head over there either later this year or next year with the materials needed to repair and restore the location.
They’re trying to raise $10,000 and they nearly have $8,000 of it, so they’re actually getting pretty close to their goal. You can make any sort of donation over on their site, or follow the project via their Facebook page. This is something that any true Star Wars fan should get behind, as the filming locations in Tunisia have always been huge tourist targets for Star Wars fans and to lose the homestead would be horrible. Who knows, maybe this will get the attention of Lucasfilm and someone there could pitch in?
