Ray Harryhausen, effects master behind just about every major stop-motion monster in the great genre movies of the 50s, 60s, and 70s; turns 90 today.
Recently BAFTA put on a lavish birthday tribute for the effects pioneer, which was attended by just about anyone who has anything to do with big effects movies and who owe a lot to Harryhausen. Thanks to Edgar Wright’s twitter feed, we know that Peter Jackson showed off old Super 8 movies of his where he recreated Jason and the Argonauts.
