Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. Theory: Is Skye an Inhuman?

640px-SkyeFollowing the second season pickup of Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. and the revelations about Skye’s parents in this past week’s episode, there’s an interesting theory floating around about Skye and Raina.

Could they be Inhumans?

We know that Marvel has big plans to introduce The Inhumans to the Marvel Cinematic Universe. Usually when they’re planning something like this, they’ll start to do big things with the characters in the comics about 18 months out. That’s why the Inhumans were major players in last year’s Infinity crossover, the Inhumanity event, and the new on-going Inhuman series. It’s similar to what Marvel has been doing with Guardians of the Galaxy leading up to August’s movie.

In the previous episode of Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D., Raina explained that a Chinese village where Skye was found was destroyed by monsters and those monsters were Skye’s parents. She also mentioned that she and Skye share something inside.

People who transform into monsters and characters with something hidden inside them definitely sound like Inhumans. Skye and Raina haven’t manifested their powers or gone into a cocoon yet as they obviously haven’t been exposed to Terrigen Mist, but that’s something that could happen at any time.

With the season finale of S.H.I.E.L.D. coming this week, could we learn more about what Skye really is?
