This week, Lucasarts announced that they signed a long-term deal to use Unreal Engine 3 in their games. The last game to use the Unreal Engine that Lucasarts made was the awesome Republic Commando. Back in 2004, Lucasarts was running a survey for people who played Republic Commando talking about a potential sequel titled Imperial Commando. Naturally that never happened, and instead Lucasfilm commissioned a short-lived Imperial Commando book.
But with the Unreal Engine 3 deal in place and the fact that Tim Longo, who worked on Republic Commando, has returned to Lucasarts; the possibility of Republic Commando receiving its long overdue sequel are much greater now. Perhaps we’ll hear something at E3 in a couple months?
