Last week we teased you on our Facebook page about the possibility of some more Star Tours stuff this week, and here it is. Unfortunately we don’t have more information about the ride aside from learning from an Al Lutz update on Miceage that the opening date for the Anaheim ride (and the new Little Mermaid ride) won’t be announced until Disney has finalized what day the Pirates of the Caribbean: On Stranger Tides red carpet premiere will take place at the park.
Instead here are two of the special toys that have been made for Star Tours. Above you can see an exclusive figure set of the boarding party from the original ride’s safety video. 15,000 of that set were made and it’s the only place you can get those figures. So if you’re a Star Wars figure collector you’ll want to head to one of the Disney parks to grab that. Below is a toy of the Starspeeder 1000 that was made for Celebration V. Unfortunately this is just a re-paint of the old Starspeeder 3000 toy.
As you may be able to tell from the numbering, with the Starspeeder 1000; Star Tours II is actually a prequel. It’s set between Episodes III and IV, which still gives you the Empire but it also leaves planets like Alderaan as a destination for the ride to go to.
